fascia therapy

You are probably aware that your body is made up of bones, muscles and organs. But did you know that ''fascia'' (connective tissue membranes) connects everything together?

Fascia is one large 3-dimensional elastic connective tissue network in the body that runs from head to toe, from skin to bone. The fascia ensures that your body is held together and everything stays in the right place.

But at least as important is that there is a liquid gel between these membranes that ensures that muscles can move smoothly along each other. The fascia system therefore ensures stability, frictionless movement and resilience. With this it plays a very important role in your health and mobility.

This method does not only look at the area of the complaint itself, but at your posture and movement as a whole. Fascia is another word for the connective tissue membranes that surround all muscles, bones and nerves - see image - and the liquid gel between these membranes. The membranes ensure that everything is connected and can work well together, the gel makes it possible for movements to proceed smoothly.

Fascia contains many more nerve endings ('sensors') than muscle or bone. Pain, stiffness and balance problems are usually caused by problems in the fascia. The fascia therapist is specially trained to detect these problems quickly. And fortunately, fascia can usually be influenced very well. The treatment often provides immediate relief and leads to a reduction or complete resolution of your complaint.

There are techniques from Traditional Chinese Medicine with materials to work the skin and fascia. This is called Gua Sha. Also in the Indian culture, people knew the massaging with materials such as coins, called ''Pidjitten''.

A more recent variant is called IASTM. (Instrument Assisted SOft Tissue Mobilization). This is done with stainless steel tools, a kind of handles, with soft edges, with which the contours of the body can be followed and treated exactly. Of course, these are also thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between treatments. [see the video below!]

  • Do you often have recurring complaints, for example in the lower back, neck or shoulders?
  • Do you have a new complaint that does not heal spontaneously or have you been suffering from pain for years?
  • Have you improved your performance but are you hampered by recurring sports injuries?
  • Is there no clear explanation from X-ray, CT or MRI examination?
  • Is there talk of 'misunderstood pain'?
  • Are you looking for a treatment that focuses on the cause, not the symptom?
  • Does the pain not go away, or even get worse, with exercise?
  • Would you like to know what is really going on and what you can do about it?
