You can make an appointment for a physiotherapy examination without needing a referral. This physiotherapist is, through thorough training, directly accessible for Screening and Intake since 2006, and that is very convenient! But of course you can also contact us if you are referred to a physiotherapist by your GP or specialist.
In addition to regular physiotherapy, our practice offers you many other therapies that you can read more about in the Therapies menu. Not everything is reimbursed by every insurer. If you choose treatments in our practice, you will receive an invoice from us and you must always pay these costs to us yourself, after the treatment. [there is -yet- no PIN]
The Doetinchem physiotherapist is the expert when it comes to the human musculoskeletal system. He treats patients who are hampered in their daily movements. The Netherlands has approximately 16,000 physiotherapists who work in independent practices, health centres, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes and, increasingly, on the work floor.
During physiotherapy, the physiotherapist treats individual or groups of patients. In addition to the treatment, which can include exercise therapy and massage therapy, the physiotherapist also uses his expertise preventively: for example, when advising or guiding patients.
This new way of treating has its origins in 1980 when urologists first crushed kidney stones by means of shock waves: the so-called Lithotrypsy or ESWL. With the therapy derived from this: ESWT (Extra Corporeal ShockWave Therapy) you can quickly get rid of your pain or tendonitis without surgery through treatment with FOCUSED HIGH ENERGY SHOCKWAVE! On average (depending on the condition and the time it has existed!) you will be rid of your complaints after 5 to 10 treatments!
ESWT is now considered one of the most innovative developments in the recent treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. In contrast to conventional treatment methods, ShockWave therapy treats the disorder directly at its source without medication or surgery. The method is now very well scientifically substantiated and the effects have been clearly established.
PE / EPTE stands for Percutaneous Electrolysis Therapy [PE for short] and is a treatment method specially developed for the treatment of chronic tendonitis of, for example, the knee, shoulder, elbow and Achilles tendon.
Read more about this on our PE/EPTE and EPI Therapy page.
High Power Laser Therapy (also called Photo Bio Modulation) is the application of red and near infrared light (810 AND 980 Nanometer wavelength) to injuries or lesions. This locally improves blood circulation and metabolism enormously, and therefore faster recovery, faster healing of wounds and tissues, reduces inflammation and irritation in tissue and ensures a rapid reduction of pain in acute and chronic pain.
Manual therapy is a specialization within physiotherapy. It is always a treatment method that directly affects the joints of our body, especially those of the spinal column. In my view, it is an integrated system and cannot be seen separately from physiotherapy. During a treatment, physiotherapy and manual therapy often run through each other.
Many systems have been developed worldwide, to which just as many names are linked. However, the essence is often the same. Central to all forms of manual therapy is the improvement of joint movements in the entire body. At Fysiotherapie & ShockWave Doetinchem, the Maitland method is used. This always starts with "soft", springy pressure techniques, and sometimes [but certainly not always] ends with a quick movement to remove the remaining blockage. ("Cracking")
Dry Needling is a specialization of the (sports) physiotherapist and manual therapist that focuses on relaxing muscle hardening in the body by specifically puncturing the so-called trigger point in the muscle with a needle. It is called DRY-Needling because nothing is injected, it is done with one or more dry acupuncture needles.
A trigger point is a painful spot in a muscle, which can cause local pressure pain as well as radiating pain elsewhere in the body. After the targeted treatment of the muscle hardening with an intensive pressure massage and needle treatment, the patient is often also given exercises to maintain the improved mobility that has arisen.

In 2009 I was trained as a Golf Physio Pro through 2 professional courses.
The goal of the Golf Physio Therapist is to let the golfer practice the game of golf in a maximally physically responsible way, all within the possibilities of the player, whereby the technical/tactical part of the game is of course up to the Golf Pro of your club. With the help of various specific treatment methods I want to give the golfer a symptom-free golf game and optimal playing pleasure.
Jaw physiotherapy is suitable for people with symptoms caused by abnormalities and/or dysfunction of the masticatory system.
These are (pain) complaints originating from the jaw joint and/or the chewing muscles. This syndrome is also called CranioMandibular Dysfunction (CMD) or Temporo Mandibular Dysfunction (TMD). A mouth full… The disruption of the normal function of the masticatory system can lead to problems with, for example, chewing, yawning, biting off food, talking, opening the mouth, singing, playing musical instruments, etc. With usually just a few treatments, these complaints are a thing of the past!
